Dil toh Baccha Hai Ji

Is it only me or does everyone get nostalgic when you go through the dozens of photo albums stuffed in the closet ? When you see your old birthday pictures or your school photos, don't you always say 'Those were the days'. The neat and sophisticatedness of today is nothing compared to the shabby but cuteness of those days. From the straight forward talks of 'I don't like you' and 'I hate this vegetable' to the diplomatic lives of today, we have come a long way.
Life has certainly changed in these twenty years as we have moved from the books to the Kindle, newspaper to the iPad, Sony Walkman to the iPod. While we begged our parents to go outdoors to have a good time, my cousins (even me) will barely look up from the screen unless the place was on fire. Yes, change is inevitable. We grow and we certainly grew alot.
Today is children's day. I remember in school we used to wear party dresses apart from the regular uniform(which was a huge relief), the teachers used to distribute chocolates, there used to be fancy dress competitions. We used to pin up red roses upon our shirts. I loved it then.
You may think 'Children's Day' is only for children, to play and enjoy themselves. But aren't you also a child at heart. Don't you ever get irritated of this rigorous work routine? Don't you ever feel to take a bat in your hand and hit some balls out of the park? Don't you ever feel to play Hide and Seek, Lock and Key, Seven Stones and many more games which you played when you were a child? Don't you ever feel to catch up with your old buddies who still love you but neither you nor they have time, to meet the teachers that you have had enough beatings from but you still deeply respect them? Will you not love watching the Harry Potter series again which you did many years ago? Will you not love eating the pani-puri's and the ice creams on the cold evening walks which rarely happen today as you arrive late at home? Will you not love playing pranks on your neighbours because you don't know who they are now?
Today,We all wear different faces/masks each day, each time. We have an office face, a family face, a friend's face. Just look at a child what ever he has on his mind, he'll speak it out. We can't do that. We ought to be diplomatic. Today, everyone might post childhood pictures of theirs instead try to be that cute, innocent you of the past.                                                                             Yes, our priorities have changed, our tastes are changed. We do have problems, insecurities in life. But the child in us still remains. As the popular song goes,"Dil toh Baccha Hai Ji."
