Doctors - Gods....Really ????
On March 12, an accident victim with a serious head injury was brought to the District Civil Hospital in Dhule. He was examined by an orthopaedic surgeon Dr.Rohan Mhamunkar. He informed the patient's family that the CT scan reveals a brain injury and the patient would require the opinion of a neurosurgeon and they would have to shift him to a bigger and better hospital as they didn't have one. The patient's family responded by slapping, beating and tearing his clothes. The video showed a mob punching him till he collapsed on to a metal cot.
Following this several other incidents were reported were doctors were treated terribly by the patient's families.
Last week, some 4000 doctors in Maharashtra went on a strike to protest against assaults on resident doctors. The doctors demanded a safe working environment primarily and the medical equipment and facilities is still a very big concern in the government hospitals. But the chief justice of the Bombay high Court said they were 'unfit to be a doctor' and 'if you keep stretching this matter, public will come and hit you.' The medical education minister threatened to hold back six months of salary.
Well doctors are considered as Gods and they enjoy the uppermost status in the society. So well there are perks of it and some times disadvantages of the same. I am not a doctor and never wanted to be one because I had the fear that if I give some wrong medicine or a wrong injection it would kill a patient. This actually happens in real as there are fake ones as well. The respect that I had for the doctors some years ago has diminished in last years. As my father is suffering from illness I regularly have to take him to the specialist doctors. They make you wait for hours even if there isn't a patient in their offices. They suggest us tests and also tell us the place from where to take the tests and so making a profit for them. Once the tests are done they scare you that you urgently need medication so they give you medicines of the highest possible rates and also tell you the medical from where to buy it and again make profit and not to forget their consulting charges. So I believe in the recent times I've seen this once considered sacred profession has now become a money making business altogether.
I am not with the beating of the doctors. But surely the government hospitals must improve their quality as the private hospitals are charging a life time out of people's pockets.

DeletePeople can buy a product from the market by giving the entire MRP amount... At such time one does not question the company why is it charged so much... Then when we doctors after spending our half life ask you to pay our required fees.. People have questions to ask like why.... Wo paach minute examine kar ke diagnose karne ke liye hi itne saal padhai ki hai... It is not easy as it looks.
ReplyDeleteI can elaborate a lot if you wish to discuss
ReplyDeleteAnd then we had 45 min call😂
DeleteTrue... Very memorable though
